    Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions answered to help you enroll with confidence.

At our Ngong Campus kindergarten we maintain a 20 : 2 student-to-teacher ratio (that is, 20 children for every 2 teaching staff).

    This ratio ensures:

    • Each child receives plenty of personal attention and care.
    • Teachers can respond promptly to children’s individual needs and learning style.
    • A calm, supportive atmosphere where relationships are meaningful, consistent with Waldorf pedagogy which emphasizes the development of each child as a whole (head, heart and hands).
    • Strong supervision during transitions (drop-off, snack time, outdoor play) and safe, effective group and individual activities.

We provide both a healthy mid-morning snack (often organic, wholesome, and prepared in a nurturing “family table” environment) and lunch for all children.

    • Snack time is more than just eating: children gather, enjoy a carefully set table, share in conversation, practice manners and community-life rhythm. (This aligns with the early-childhood environment in Waldorf schools, where such rhythms support a sense of security and well-being.)
    • Lunch is selected to promote nutrition, energy for the day’s activities, and healthy habits.
    • If your child has any dietary restrictions or special needs (e.g., vegetarian, allergies), we welcome discussion so we can ensure their needs are met in this context of care.
    • Drop-Off Window: 8:15 AM
    • Pick-Up (Main Session End): 1:00 PM
    • Optional Afternoon Care / After-School Activities: Available for families needing extended care; children can remain after 1pm for supervised structured play, creative activity, or other enrichment.

This schedule aligns with the early-years rhythm: morning arrival, core programme, midday closure, with a peaceful transition into afternoon care if needed.

It helps children feel safe within a routine, and allows morning rhythms, circle times, snack, free play, learning work and lunch to flow smoothly.

Yes — we follow a structured but flexible daily routine, rooted in Waldorf early-childhood principles, which helps children feel safe, oriented, and supported. Highlights include:

    • A welcoming morning circle: songs, verses, finger‐plays, movement—this builds language, motor-skills, and social connection.
    • Practical “hand-work” and creative tasks: play dough, kneading bread, gardening, simple woodworking, sewing or craft, as children’s skills and interests develop. This helps nurture coordination, concentration, aesthetic appreciation, and confidence.
    • Free play indoors and outdoors: children engage in imaginative play, group or solo, discovering environment, peers, and self. These are central in Waldorf kindergartens to support social, emotional, and cognitive growth.
    • Snack time, outdoor play, story or puppet-play time, lunch, calming transition to pick-up.
    • The rhythm is consistent day-to-day and week-to-week (with seasonal, festival, and nature-based elements) so children feel secure and can thrive.

We believe in a strong partnership between school and home, and we keep parents well-informed and included:

    • Weekly updates: Class teachers send a summary of the week’s focus, children’s experiences, highlights, and upcoming activity or reminders.
    • Monthly newsletter: A broader overview of campus life, upcoming events (festivals, nature walks, parent-child mornings), and helpful guidance for home.
    • Parent-teacher interactions: We encourage regular informal conversations at drop-off/pick-up, scheduled meetings if needed, and opportunities for parents to visit, observe the kindergarten environment, and understand the Waldorf approach.
    • Parent community involvement: The Waldorf ethos values collective engagement: parents may be invited to volunteer in selected activities, join parent-education sessions to deepen understanding of child development and the Waldorf philosophy, and attend special seasonal festivals which are part of our campus life.
    • Educational commitment: We are available to answer all your queries so you and your child enter confidently.
    • Enrolment process: While we are ready for enrolments, space may be limited (especially in early years classes). We recommend applying early to secure a place.
